Community Outreach

Christ Lutheran deeply values community involvement. We endeavor to love and serve our neighbors by providing service to all in need, advocating for the poor and hungry, inviting our neighbors to serve, and participating as a vital member of our community.

The Community Outreach Team seeks to identify God's work in the community, and moves to inspire congregational involvement. In the recent past, this team has coordinated service opportunities such as:

Reach Out, a program collaborating with other congregations to provide meals for homeless men;
Coat Off Your Back, a community program to clothe the poor;
Holiday Giving Tree, a consortium of organizations providing gifts to recent refugee families through Lutheran Community Services;
School Supplies Drive, for local distribution and Lutheran World Relief;
Blessing of the First Responders, done in conjunction with another Lutheran congregation to recognize first responders on the 15th anniversary of 9/11.
Neighbor Time, a bi-monthly adult social activity period to encourage members of our community to interact with others for games and conversation in a relaxed, friendly environment.

On a global scale, our talented “Peacemakers” group has created hundreds of quilts and the congregation has produced health kits to send overseas via Lutheran World Relief.

One of our most important community outreach impacts is achieved simply by opening our doors to many other groups that need a warm, welcoming environment in which to minister to a variety of community needs. Many organizations find a home at Christ Lutheran, including Zion Castle Prebyterian Church, Christ Coworkers Fellowship, several AA groups, Boy and Girls Scouts, a women’s professional group and many more. We see ourselves a community resource and gathering place. Are you looking for a place to hold a community meeting? Contact our office for more information.
