He continued his studies at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, interning in Washington D.C. and doing Clinical Pastoral Education at the Mayo Clinic.  He obtained his Masters of Divinity degree in 1981. He has served five congregations as a settled pastor, but felt the call to the specialized interim ministry with the encouragement of Bishop Wells of the EWAID synod. As a trained interim pastor he has served in Fairbanks, Alaska; Billings, Montana; Juneau, Alaska and most recently in the Spokane area with two yoked congregations.

Mark's wife, Elaine works at Microsoft as a Senior Paralegal in Intellectual Property. They have two grown daughters. Kirsten, who graduated from PLU as a registered nurse and is presently in Orange County as a nurse educator. And Kelsey, who graduated from CLU and went to USC for graduate work in Occupational Therapy. She is working at Kech Hospital in Los Angeles as a clinical faculty member of USC.

Pastor Mark has a lifelong love of aviation, building and flying radio controlled models and also flying a 1947 Aeronca Chief which he restored. Moreover, he is a musician and works with communications and technology. He is happy to be assisting the congregation through the process of defining the future mission and seeking a new settled pastor.
