Pastor Chavaleh ForgeyPastor Chavaleh Forgey

Coming home to the Pacific Northwest after a 20 year absence, it is my absolute joy to be here at Christ Lutheran Church – a unique, loving, and welcoming faith community.  I have been married to my husband Lim since 1997, and we have been partners in ministry for our entire adult lives.  We have three wonderful adult children – Faith, Cameron, and Erin – and a few furry family members as well.  As a bi-vocational pastor, you can also find me at work as a voice teacher, conductor, and theater producer.  My pastoral call, ministry, and life is built upon the joyful proclamation of the gospel in all ways and circumstances.  In my own life, this means loving God through loving others in as many ways as I can for as long as I can.  It is my deep conviction that human beings are called to abundant life through Jesus Christ, and that faith community is an essential part of that abundant life.  All are welcome here – and I really mean that.  I hope that you will find CLC Federal Way to be a joyful home characterized by love of each other and love of neighbor and stranger.

Lim ForgeyLim Forgey
Minister of Music

Lim has served as a full time minister of music in large ELCA churches around the United States for the last 27 years. He has assembled, trained and conducted large choirs, choral ensembles, liturgical/classical orchestras, brass and string ensembles and festival concerts, including Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, Dan Forrest Requiem for the Living, the Faure Requiem, Handel’s Messiah and Vivaldi’s Gloria to name a few. Lim is passionate about church music, training the next generation of church music leaders and expanding their understanding of liturgy and its execution. Lim is also a contemporary worship leader, with knowledge and expertise in the new music of the church and how it can be used with care in modern worship services.

Lim’s distinguished international performance career in opera, concert, and oratorio has included Lieder recitals throughout Germany, principle roles in grand opera (works by Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, et cetera) as a dramatic baritone in the US and Europe and extensive solo work with several major symphony orchestras.

Lim has a Bachelor of Music Degree from Washington State University and a Master of Music with distinction from California State University Fresno.

Returning to the Pacific Northwest in support of wife Chavaleh’s call to ministry, Lim is currently a pre-doctoral instructor in private voice, class voice, and language diction at the University of Washington in Seattle and pursuing his Doctor of Music in Vocal Performance.

Laura OlsenLaura Olsen
Office Manager

Laura and her family have been members of Christ Lutheran since her baptism here in 2010. In 2013, she found herself taking a break from a long career in graphic design and accepted the office position when Pastor Leapaldt retired. She manages the daily operations of the church, creates worship bulletins, publications, social media and website, and finds value in working with church leaders and volunteers "to equip the saints for the work of ministry". On Sunday, Laura enjoys singing in the choir, and occasionally assisting and leading worship.

After completing a two-year program at The College for Congregational Development (Episcopal Diocese of Olympia), and a two-year PSALM - Program for Strenghtening Active Lay Ministry (Southwestern Washington Synod, ELCA), she is entering into the ELCA candidacy process. Only God knows what lies ahead.

Laura also enjoys a lifelong passion for art, music and the outdoors. She and her husband Guy are parents to three active young men - Eric, Kyle and Ian - a lightening-fast border collie named Buddy, and a tuxedo cat named Jim-Bob (an exemplar of tolerance in this cirque du ridicule.) Grace abounds!
