Interim Pastor

Welcome to Christ Lutheran Church. I am so glad you are here. My name is Marietta. I currently serve as the pastor at Christ Lutheran and joyfully journey through this life of faith with all of creation. Twenty five years ago, I was welcomed into a Lutheran church here in the Pacific Northwest and learned that God’s gift of grace and forgiveness was given freely and lovingly in Jesus Christ. I learned that this was an invitation for me to live in and through the Holy Spirit in response to this free gift by loving others and moving through the world in ways that honor, support and strengthen my neighbors. That means you! And all of creation.

Three years ago I began seminary as a distance learner at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. I will graduate in May 2021. My partner, Brad, and I have been together 30 years - 21 on active duty with the U.S. Navy - and we are parents to three young adults. I am a child of Iowa, but since moving to the Pacific Northwest in 1995, I’ve only had eyes for the Evergreen State.

Again, welcome to Christ Lutheran Church.

Laura OlsenLaura Olsen
Office Manager

Laura and her family have been members of Christ Lutheran since her baptism here in 2010. In 2013, she found herself taking a break from a long career in graphic design and accepted the office position when Pastor Leapaldt retired. She manages the daily operations of the church, creates worship bulletins, publications, social media and website, and finds value in working with church leaders and volunteers "to equip the saints for the work of ministry". On Sunday, Laura enjoys singing in the choir, and occasionally assisting and leading worship.

After completing a two-year program at The College for Congregational Development (Episcopal Diocese of Olympia), and a two-year PSALM - Program for Strenghtening Active Lay Ministry (Southwestern Washington Synod, ELCA), she is entering into the ELCA candidacy process. Only God knows what lies ahead.

Laura also enjoys a lifelong passion for art, music and the outdoors. She and her husband Guy are parents to three active young men - Eric, Kyle and Ian - a lightening-fast border collie puppy named Paulie, a stray chicken named Shirley, and a tuxedo cat named Jim-Bob (an exemplar of tolerance in this cirque du ridicule.) Grace abounds!
